My Word - Spring 2020
We have all been locked down now for months observing both the devastation of COVID19 and the amazing stories of how the private sector and the public sector have adapted. With facts from our experts changing from day to day it is hard to know who to believe and how to plan when you are not sure of precisely what the challenges will be. It is counter intuitive that when the price point less than $10,000 some auction houses are actually doing better after COVID19 than before COVID19 . We attribute that to collectors being locked down at home, bored and online.
Our interns are not in the gallery. Gabriela is back with her family in Brazil midst an outbreak second only to the U.S. Our thoughts are with her and her family. Madison has been working on the newsletter and our social media from home and hoping to get a full time job this summer. If you need a photographer, she’s a good one.
The Roadshow was supposed to be taping in April, May, and June. Season 25 .has been re-scheduled to September, and October when we are scheduled to visit Santa Fe, Estes Park, Nashville, Williamsburg and Boston. We obviously need to see where the lock down is as we get into the summer.
Yesterday we had some of our museums n Dallas damaged by looters and rioters. For the near future a 7 PM curfew is being opposed to thwart the efforts of radical activists that our attempting to destroy our property and institutions.
The appraisal, auction cataloging, and art authentication has kept us busier than we were prior to COVID. I assume that must mean more people are having to assess where they are with all these new challenges.
