My Word Christmas 2021

As we go into the holiday season there is a moment to reflect on a challenging year. For me the passing of Jay Last represented the last of the truly great collectors from this era. We will pay the appropriate respect and acknowledge his unparalleled contribution to the field of tribal art and lithography. Jay was a complicated man and a delight to be around.

As the art world continues to adapt to COVID, this year has continued to be even busier for us than 2020. We do miss our intern program that brought a different perspective to the gallery while providing insight to the interest and thoughts of this generation.

In this issue the Art Newspaper describes the COVID challenges of 2021. Unfortunately the politics of the pandemics makes it almost impossible for anyone to predict what will confront the art world in 2022.

In our next year we shall continue to work with major collectors that our attempting to downsize in this very unpredictable market. I can’t count the numbers of times I have been told ..”I need your help, my kids may put all this in an estate sale.” Its another world. But maybe the point is that my generation will continue to downsize. And there will be opportunities to acquire some great art

Hope you have a Merry Christmas and a happy, safe, and healthy 2022.
