My Word Summer 2023

For many of us 2023 in general and this summer in particular have been memorable. The further I get from the simplicity of my youth the more I realize in my naivete that I was on to something. At that point I was too dumb to realize trite phrases like a gentleman is known for his moderation in all things (grandfather). Or maybe balance in life creates more happiness than excess. (A variation on this theme came from many older folks). These were all great things to live by then and maybe even more so now. You don’t need me to show you where we are missing these qualities in today’s world, but everyone with some semblance of objectivity can see where we may be not heading in a good direction. We all desperately need to get back to talking to one another and exchanging ideas. I hope this Newsletter is thought provoking for some. Quite frankly I think its pretty cool to think AI can create an image from my precise GPS location that can then become a story limited only by my own creativity. That seems far more interesting to me than debating the merits of trans twerking in elementary school. But maybe I am just strange. JB
