My Word - Spring 2024

Summer 2024 looks to be one of the busiest summers we have had to date with four interns working in various aspects of the business. Camilla Martinez will stay with us on Social Media expanding content on our postings. Sydney Starr is our Shango Galleries intern working on the newsletter, research, and upcoming exhibitions. Amalie Ryland will handle general web content on all platforms,  and  Megha Kalvakota will help build and expand our YouTube channel as a special outreach to collectors, museums, and dealers that are confronted with changes now and in the immediate future in the arena of collecting and disposition of ethnographic art.

Shango Galleries/ArtTrak’s  YouTube Channel will have analysis of some of our Antiques Roadshow segments, information about appraising and insuring art, and will include panels with art experts providing advice on the market and the disposition of collections.  Currently, I am focused on art issues here in Texas, as I had to step away from the Roadshow for three seasons to address family concerns, but I am looking forward to rejoining the appraisers.

I am excited to announce we are presently working now on an online Japanese Noh Theatre Mask exhibition for the Autumn season. This is a departure from our normal ethnographic pursuits; however, we are enjoying exploring this culture, and it is being well received by our clients as well.

Finally, over this past year, we have worked with a number of auction houses that have become an important part of the options available to our clients. You may recall we had a private ArtTrak Auction online last year that was very successful. We have concluded that the ethnographic market will become more complex in the coming years, so we shall continue this pursuit and will be adding ArtTrak Online Auctions to the Liveauctioneers.com platform.  Our plan is offer a few auction sales a year, thus creating a multi-faceted approach that offers more flexibility in the marketplace.

We are looking forward to these additions, and we hope you will join us.
