Sydney Starr Gallery Summer Intern - Spring 2024

My name is Sydney Starr and I was born and raised in Dallas, Texas. Currently, I am enrolled at the University of North Texas where I study Interdisciplinary Art and Design with a minor in Home Furnishing and Decor Merchandising.  For my work study at UNT, I worked at two of our college's art galleries. Working at these galleries helped seal my interest in working hands-on with art long term. Since I was a child, I have always been interested in art, connecting with people, and learning new things.
> After meeting with John Buxton, I knew he would be a great mentor. He is very focused on making sure I get the most out of this internship for my own career and personal goals. After I graduate undergrad, I plan on continuing school and getting my masters in Merchandising, I am hoping to use the knowledge that I gain from this internship and implement them moving forward in my education. I am excited and grateful for this journey at Shango Gallery and what the opportunities I will gain from this internship.
