My Word Winter 2020

The pace certainly picked up again after the holiday season. In this issue we are delighted to welcome our two new interns Madison and Gabriela who should be with us at least until June. Madison has done a great job working on this newsletter finding many interesting topics as well as the latest information on the Coronavirus.

Gabriela who is from Sao Paolo has contributed to this newsletter with some of the latest information on the devastating fire that destroyed much of the art collection in the National Museum located in Rio. Additionally Gabriela over the new few issues will provide a summary of the tribal arts collections in South American museums.

We have received our assignments for Season 25 of the Antiques Roadshow and I will traveling to all five cities which are Williamsburg, Virginia; Nashville, Tennessee; Boston, Massachusetts; Estes Park, Colorado; and Santa Fe, New Mexico. Considering that most of us that have been with the show since the beginning in 1996 never thought it would last longer than five years, this milestone is somewhat shocking. Twenty years in the television world is an eon in the real world. The schedule is published in this newsletter.. It should be a great spring.

In our social media campaign we have had a great response from our daily postings that alternate between art photographs in "Art Just Because Its Great" and nature photographs in "Our World Just Because Its Great". This campaign was inspired as a counter to all the negativity and trash we must all sort through daily on the internet. You might enjoy following us on Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram, or Pinterest for a break in your day.

As human discourse becomes more shrill in all areas of our lives, tribal art is no exception. We continue to stay on top of issues important to you, but expect pressures from repatriation to ivory to become more intense over the coming year.

This past November I marked 45 years in business and 75 years on the planet. The challenges and new adventures have provided the excitement and inspiration to continue this journey hopefully for many years to come. So whether it is serving as an expert witness, appraiser, authenticator, buyer or seller, I can't wait to see what happens next.

Hope you find this issue interesting. Please give us your feedback.
